Our goals.
AOS’ vertical farms require reduced land use to produce APROTO protein meal and ALIPO fats for animal feed. This freed land can be used to grow crops to feed the growing populations at lower environmental costs.
AOS’ circular economy business model allows us to responsibly upcycle industrial by- and sub- products into our four high-value quality products: animal protein, oils, organic compost and chitosan.
AOS’ production reduces carbon footprint of the feed industry and provides organic alternatives to chemical fertilisers. Black Soldier fly larvae use -87% land, -88% water, -60% Co2 emissions and -97% less energy than other sources of vegetable protein.
AOS animal feed products use substantially less land than its substitutes. Moreover, its organic fertilisers are designed to foster the transition towards organic farming with positive impacts on soil health.
What we seek to resolve.
The global food industry today is challenged by one of the biggest contradictions in history: the world’s population is expected to grow to 10 billion by 2050 increasing demand for food; meanwhile, one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption is lost or wasted every year.
Our linear food models have proven to extract more resources than the planet can manage resulting in huge environmental and economic inefficiencies.
AOS emerges to tackle some of today’s broken production systems with an innovative circular economy industrial model. In a world with growing populations and finite resources, the pressure of feeding our population and handling waste responsibly drives us to close the loop by allocating resources more efficiently.
